Guest Posted August 30, 2012 Share Posted August 30, 2012 Hi what week are you all planning to start phonics, I am an NQT and staring to plan but need to show differentiation but I can't when I have not assessed so do you assess phonics 1st or go straight into it and then assess as you go? catma Posted August 30, 2012 Share Posted August 30, 2012 You would need to get previous assessments from nursery if you have one - they would have phase 1 tracking (or should do!) and then plan to do some phase 1 activities to get a sense of how well the children who you may not have anything for are secure with aspects 6 and 7. If they need to focus on this then plan for a few weeks to consolidate but you would need to be starting phase 2 (6 weeks) by half term to be on track to get children to secure phase 3 by the end of the year.
