hemsbynursery Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 Hellooo all! I went back to work today as Nursery Supervisor after 9 months maternity leave! I have spent the day catching up with staff and meeting and observing children....I ALREADY have a question!! My newest member of staff has been with us for a year but only went on her EYFS training last month. She was told that there is no need to do long observations on children in the setting and when she told the group how we do them and how often, the majority of them commented that they dont do them at all anymore. Have i missed this since being away or do other settings still do long obs?? Quote
blondie Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 we still do one five minute observation per half term linked to their next stage in development - hope thats a help x Quote
mundia Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Hi there hemsbynursery. We had a previous conversation recently about the value of longer observations, with a variety of views. You might find it interesting. Quote
