Hey everyone, I have to evaluate three routines carried out in my year two class, I have chosen preparing for outdoor play at break time, independantly preparing their snack and lastly self registering in the morning. I was wodnering if anyone has had to do this before and if so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again.

If I was doing this I think I would start by identifying the intention behind the routine - what skills or attitudes do you hope the children will learn or develop throuh taking part? Then, I'd observe the children, preferably several times in order to identify and remove the effects of different situations on the children's behaviour. I'd then analyse my observations to find out exactly what the children did, said, how engaged they were and also how the adults involved manage the routines themselves. I'd perhaps interview the adults and children asking how they feel about the routines, too.

Once I'd got all that data, I think I'd be in more of a position to decide how effective they are, and perhaps draw up priorities to adapt/change if necessary.

Good luck - it sounds like an interesting project!
