They've Closed Our Resource Centres!

I don't know if anyone else has been affected by this, but in Lancashire there was this great resource centre funded and run on the Children's Centre/Sure Start budget that schools could buy into for a very low fee. They had loads of fantastic stuff for lots of different topics and you could borrow as much as you wanted. We got a lot of our resources in there, stuff you just can't afford to buy on a school budget!

 

Today we found out that they had basically been shut down because of budget cuts and that we couldn't have any of our resources. So myself and the reception teacher have spent the holidays planing loads of great activities and continuous provision areas and suddenly we have no resources. Disaster! What's worse is that the resources will just now sit in storage somewhere for months

 

Just wanted to complain. I have no idea what I'm going to do now!

Our nearest (and only one left within reasonable distance) PSLA one shut down a couple of months ago.

Govt policy starting to take hold.....in the big society maybe you are supposed to get parents to come in and make them for you for free???

 

Be thankful you will still have a job in the next financial year. Ours are all under threat.

That's very true, although come July my job is under threat. Until then though I guess I'm luckier than most. Still angry about the beautiful resources sitting unused on shelves gathering dust though!
