Overlooking Differences And Specific Needs

Hi All, would just like to point people towards an interesting article in the Guardian regarding the education of Gypsy Traveller children. The Plowden Report, back in 1967 stated that these children's needs were not being met and they are still dramatically underachieving. Creative thinking and cultural understanding is needed to raise achievement and reduce the baggage parents have of their own schooldays in order to make school a positive and enriching experience for these children. Early Years workers need to create links with pre-schools and schools to allieviate fears parents of Gypsy children have.
