titchy
hi all can someone give me some advice please. I keep getting told that I need to have a degree or eyps status to run my setting which is a pre-school currently only running in the mornings. This is based in wiltshire although I've contacted Bright Horizons who offer advice training, that sort of thing and they've said I don't. I'm so confused. Guest
Hi. You don't need EYPS to run your setting at all. If you are classed as full day care under the old definitions ie over four hours per day, you should be working towards employing an EYP by 2015. But that doesn't need to be the manager, and in fact it could be argued that it shouldn't be as the role of the EYP should be to work with the children and many managers have so much admin they cannot do this as well as another member of staff. (Don't all throw stuff at me please!). Hope that helps you a bit.
Inge
agree with Holly... only need this if full day, and not until 1215 part time or under 4hrs does not need it (yet) and in fact gets no funding towards one..to get Graduate leader fund or whatever is is now called you need to be full days.. I totally agree with this comment - and voiced as much at one of our EYP Development Days to a group around the table that consisted of two Nursery Owners and a Manager all whom are doing thier EYP - can't say it went down well but it sparked heated debate, and hopefully they could see what I was getting at .
