Guest
Does anyone have a contagious policy - does it exsist???
Cait
We have a policy which gives the examples of expected absences for various illnesses. There's also a poster which you can get that gives the same information. What particularly are you wanting?

Beau
Has she not had chicken pox before then? Do you have any pregnant mums at your group? I don't really think its practical to keep a member of staff away from work on the off chance she may have contracted chicken pox though. Cait
Hi CaitWhere do you get a poster from? info here I think (and hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong) the poster was from the Health Protection Agency
Buttercup
the only problem with chickenpox is they are most contagious before spots but it can take 10-14 days before spots come out. so probably not practicle for staff to be off that long. we had first case before christmas still getting more now. buttercup
Guest
Unless your staff member has an immune deficiency or is pregnant it might not be feasible for them to be excluded on the off chance they could get chicken pox from a child. Partly this is because of the reasons already stated but also adults and children can get chicken pox more than once so you could end up with everyone wanting to stay off "just in case"! thumperrabbit
Staff member would be in work with us if they don't actually have it, however when ever chicken pox is 'going around' we do put up a notice warning parents to be on the look out.
