currycraver Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Hi Please can anyone tell me what the water temperature regs are. Our setting is in a private house with a shared water tank. I cannot find anywhere where there is advice on this. Does anyone else have this issue. Are there tap regulators for temperature. Do some settings use cold water- Mrs O is due and i am panicking. Any advise? thanks in advance for any suggestions Quote
Panders Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 You can certainly have tap regulators fitted, can be expensive unless you know a tame plumber! In our building the water temperature is too hot - been told because of Legionnaire's Disease (which breeds in water tanks) that it must be at the temperature it is. The tap regulator some how mixes the water just before it comes out - goodness knows how. If you are worried about Mrs. O, I would probably suggest that you do not draw her attention to it! But if she asks have it written into your management plans to have it altered and what you are doing in the meantime. Quote
anju Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 we have the same problem - I have asked for thermostatic valves on the taps the children use - apparently that's what they're called, they isolate the water temperature to those particular taps but you can still have it good and hot for hygiene purposes on 'adult' and kitchen sinks. Guest Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Hi we recently had this same problem - easily solved with a thermal blending valve - you will need at plumber to install though and it really does solve problem as it can be fitted solely to taps where children are but rest of water outlets can be left at higher temp for adult use.It solves legionnaires prob as well as it cools water which has been previously at a higher temp so bugs the bugs are killed then this hot water passes through valve being mixed at that point with cold water which then comes out of tap at safe temp. I googled safe water temp for children - cant remember what it was , but your plumber can set the valve to your desired temp at installation so it will always blend hot and cold to produce the temp you want - Lizz Quote
