Guest Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 Next week we are going to be setting up an estate agents in our role play area. Bit stuck of exciting ideas to do with it! Any suggestions?
Guest Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 Do you have the use of a digital camera? You could ask children to 'become' estate agents and actually take them outside to 'photograph' some houses that they can then try and sell. This ties in with the KU of using ICT to support their learning.
hali Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 obviously the usual, telephone keybord pens paper lots of house details from the estate agents and maybe posters if they have them as gater says let them photograph houses or bring in a photo of their house.. will keep thinking for you
Guest Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 Do you have a dolls house, small world play house, garage, castle even a tent etc that the children could desribe features of... which you then scribe on a for sale poster. Discussion could include how much it will cost, who may want to buy it etc. Peggy
Guest Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 I like that idea Peggy. You could find photos in the paper of houses for sale (or get details from estate agents) and sort them into flats, detached, semi, terraced, bungalow, etc. Carolyn
Guest Tracey F Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 Some of the online estate agents let you download house details to print off. Maybe have some sort of simple filing (sorting!) boxes for flats, bungalows, houses. Maybe some maps to see where their own houses are, old dooor keys to give out or take when 'viewing' houses Also get the children to build houses from construction - lego, blocks etc. or junk modelling and take digital photos and use to make their own house details.
Rea Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 Most estate agents have the 'property news' or their own newspaper full of pictures of houses.
SueFinanceManager Posted January 18, 2005 Posted January 18, 2005 Get a photo of an old garden shed and describe it as 'compact with huge potential' Sue
Guest Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 Wonder if the children could be involved in using measuring equipment to check the size of rooms or the houses in general? Tape measures, rulers, trundle wheels and all the other non standard measures equipment?
