Targets

We have to write reports this term and they have changed the format. We have to write about childrens personal and social development only and give each child a target. Has anybody got a list of parent friendly targets i can look at in all areas of the curriculum. Thanks

I think thats a shame, targeting little children. But if the powers that be have decided...

Is this something you want the parents to work with you on or just to let them know what you'll be doing? When my computer and scanner are friends again I'll try to show you a format we use at consultations. It's really just a comment box for parents to use alongside the assessment sheets that we use. We can see where there are gaps and with the parent we decide how, through the child's interests, we can fill the gaps. Actually, I suppose thats targeting! Just sounds so formal doesnt it? :o

Thanks Rea i appreciate that, and yes i agree with you they are too little to be targeted but try telling my Deputy Head that.

Would it be possible to take a target from the FS curriculum guidance or the profile? Or are these too general for what you're looking for?

Dianne (who's head luckily does not agree with targets for YR children!)

When is a target not a target? when it's a next step! I don't think it's what you call them that matters, it's how you assess and help move children on in their skills etc. Isn't that what we do anyway?! :D
