Guest
what scales are everyone else using to monitor childrens progress? we are currently using the old stepping stones at the moment and our local authority has produced an assesment scale called rds (or rods?) which is very limited and seems not detailed enough. do other people use the eyfs profile assesment scales reference sheet? or just refer to the development matters in the eyfs pack? Guest Wolfie
We use the Development Matters statements as guidlelines - but I have stressed to the staff that they start with observations of the child, not the statements, and that they are not expected to evidence every single statement. The ones that we do gather evidence through observation for will give them a broad summary of the levels at which the child is functioning.
