Guest
Hello all. I am new to working with 0-3s and have been working on the planning in a day care setting and I would welcome your opinons please. Ok, we are currently having a three week observation/ get to know the unique child period. At the end of which all key workers will fill out these sheets on their key children in consultation with parents Children__s_Interest_Summary_with_Next_Step_Ideas.doc At the same time we are looking at producing Continuous Provision Posters. So at the end of these three weeks each key worker will then individually plan for their key children in two ways: 1) The Possible Lines of Development sheet and Individual_PLOD.doc 2) Additions to the Continuous Provison sheets which will be displayed on the wall and links to individuals/ small groups Planned_Additions_to_Continuous_Provision.doc Each Keyworker has 1 hour non contact time for paperwork per week with 6 ish children. I imagine each keyworker will need to do these individual plans every two/ three weeks but this is to be kept flexible. The other weeks when planning is rolling I would expect Learning Diaries to be updated and evualations written etc. What do you think? Is this enough? Too great an expectation to do in 1 hour a week?????????? Ok, and my next "little" question... On the Possible Lines of Development sheets I removed the Development Matters/ Learning Objectives column! I did this because I didn't want adults to assume a particular area of learning would be achieved or even worked towards (as of course the children might take the activity in a different direction). I instead thought keyworkers could look through the Development Matters areas after and make appropraite links and record/ make notes in the Learning Diaries. What do you think? Cait
I think your Key persons should manage this without any difficulty - the only thing I would suggest is that you try it till Easter and see how it goes, then you can evaluate it as a team and reflect on how it's going and make any changes then if need be
aliamch
I also think this is possible, it may take a while for them to get into the routine, but then I think they'd be fine. Looking through the DM's regularly will also familiarise your keyworkers with them. Karrie
Guest
I think I must be doing too many obs etc then!! I look after 2 full time children and do 2-3 photo0written obs on them both each week, well with all my other paperwork on them, daily home diaries and my own files for each it takes me at least an hour per day!! if not more, usually when they are both sleeping at lunchtime! Dare not leave it for a day or two, or its a nightmare, mind you have a lovely portfolio on each child since sept!! lovely photo obs etc!! So if you can get away with one hour every 2-4 weeks i guess you would be very lucky!!

It's one hour per week non contact time but one hour every 2-4 weeks on the individual plans with the rest on Learning Diaries. I see that I have had quite a few downloads of the sheets. Are they any good? ALL OPINIONS WELCOME - especially about taking off the developmental matter links
