Those are the 2D shapes as far as Im aware. They need to know some 3D ones too. Try the framework on Standards for more info.

Good luck.

My 5 year old in Year 1 told me off for saying rectangle, 'It's an oblong now mummy, didn't your teacher tell you that?'

It was only then I remembered the posts on here, but old habits die hard.

Funny that as my advisor told me last week it's a rectangle!

as well as the common 3D shapes cube, cuboid, cone and sphere

I have taught my children to say oblong rectangle! I have taught square, circle, oblong, triangle and extended HAPs to learning hexagon and pentagon.

With regard to 3D shapes I have taught cone, cube, sphere and cuboid, and extended my HAPs to learning cylinder as well. It doesn't state in EYFS which shapes. I have taught other shapes to those children who regualrly chose to play with shapes or construct shapes within their play if they can cope with it.

Sorry if this is a particularly thick question, KST but what are HAPs?

Ah thanks! I'm not in school, so I'm sure you're right, KST!
