Nursery Education Grant Conditions

Recommended Posts

Please can anyone tell me (or point me to a web page) what the conditions are that a nursery school has to meet to qualify for funding ie to be able to offer parents the NEG

Many thanks

The best place to find this out is to ask your Early Years people at your local authority, since most athorities set their own terms and conditions.

Our LEA gives out details each year on conditions for receiving funding, and our chair has to sign to say that she agrees to follow them.

I know ours has some conditions which from discussion on here other areas do not.. perhaps they are the ones to ask about this.. seems all areas are slightly different...

not necessarily..

in our LEA we declare each year number of weeks open..

some settings have 37 weeks, we have in the past had a 36 week year we just got the funding for relevant weeks..

there is a set maximum number we can claim claim each quarter but until now we have not been given a minimum..

May be worth asking...

Our LEA would just pro-rata their payments for those settings that qualify but are unable to meet the 38 weeks for legitimate reasons, eg Independent settings.... Its worth a try!

I'm fairly certain some groups in our area don't open for 38 weeks either - definitely worth a check with your early years team!

Another area that allows us to claim only for weeks open. They aren't happy about it admittedly but they can't stop us as our parents are the management committee and they say they don't want their children in until the day before Christmas Eve for example, and they prefer full weeks to part weeks even if it means we only open 36/37 weeks. Certainly worth questioning.
