Guest Posted June 21, 2004 Posted June 21, 2004 Hi I have finally got an interview after first being viewed by the schools head, i now have to teach a reception class in their school on the topic of months of year and seasons and I have no idea where to start. Can anyone help me?
Susan Posted June 21, 2004 Posted June 21, 2004 HI buttonmoon thats not nice! Don't you have any other guidelines? Thats an odd topic title, Ill have a think and try and get back to you but obviously you need to be practical. DO any poems or stories spring to mind?
mundia Posted June 21, 2004 Posted June 21, 2004 Hi there buttonmoon, not the easist of titles is it? Great news that you got your first interview though. How long have you got to teach? Will you have any support or be on your own? when is the interview? I think seasons will bne easier than the months, I dont think many of our reception children know the months and when they are in relation to each other. But if you make a start with summer, and do something about the weather or clothes are the first things that spring to mind. Finding posters of the seasons sshouldnt be too difficult, if you have some sort of access to resources. We have alot of trees nearby to our schol, so we have also looked at their differences during the year. Im sure that between us we can come up with some sensible ideas.
Guest Posted June 21, 2004 Posted June 21, 2004 Hi Buttonmoon What about using the Shirley Hughes story Lucy and Tom at the seaside for your starting point? Its a summer story and perhaps you could then go on to talk about the other seasons from there. Linda
