Guest
Hi, due to staff changes and more children coming it makes sense for me to go in a room on a regular basis, the room will be pre-school and i will go in every monday, i can't wait. Before becoming manager i worked fulltime in pre-school and totally miss it at present. so a large part of managment roles (i.e answering phones, show rounds etc...) will go to my deputy each monday which will be great for her professional development. ( i will be in building, but unavailable as manager unless its essential , i.e deputy can't deal with it!!) for my own sanity and sense of wellbeing i get to do what i do best, play and interact with the children and learn more about what is happeneing in the room. hee hee, i am so excited , am i mad LOL I will also be aiming to spend more time in the other rooms, although this will be on a less regualr basis... it feels good to know that i now have the time to be more involved in the rooms.. it's great. Rea
Congratulations Dawn, and no, I dont think you're mad. When I was playleader I hated how little time I actually spent talking, playing, watching the children. The beauty of supply is taht I get to do it all the time Enjoy yourself. I think all managers should do it more often
Guest
Agree with Rea, managers need to have 'hands on' for their own sanity, the childrens benefit of their knowledge, attitude and experience, and the staffs benefit of having a good role model to observe and learn from. HAVE FUN, and Monday is an excellent choice of day, what a lovely way to start your working week. Peggy
Guest
I also agree!!!! As a Supervisor I spend Mondays & Fridays in the office(popping in & out often to join singing etc!!) & Tuesday,Wednesday & Thursday on the 'floor' working with and at the side of the children. The mix of duties suits me & I'm lucky enough to have enough staff to be able to do this.
