We have just started an Accreditation scheme and I have been told by our mentor that when she visits next time she will be looking to see how we "wind up" the session from about 11.30am
So how do you "wind" it up? Do you go into detail about how the morning went for each child, what they achieved, etc. Do you do it in keyworker groups or a larger group - I am assuming this is what she meant. I should have asked her.

Sue when does your session end?

At 11.30 we're still in the thick of it: we end at 12.10 if its not a lunch club day.

We start our 'wind down' at around 12 o'clock: everyone changes into their outdoor shoes, get their coats on and if there's time for a story or a chat about the morning, we do it all together as a group. Then we sing our goodbye song, and hey presto! its time to let the parents/carers in.

Is this the kind of thing you mean?

At the end of the morning session, we go for a walk then sing songs (mat time) as parents arrive, some children stay for lunch and go home straight after. For the children who stay all day I try to keep all equipment / activities out until as late as I can ( we have to clear the hall within 15 mins of end of session) so that when parents arrive they can see their children engrossed in play. Parents don't often see this at drop off time and it also gives us time to talk to parents before their child is aware that they have arrived.
