- New Tapestry Webinars
Hi Weavers,
Welcome to this month’s Tapestry newsletter. We hope everyone has been enjoying the good weather we’ve had recently and your preparations for the GDPR next month are going well. As I’m sure you are all aware, we are currently in the process of updating our Tapestry contract with you. The main changes to the contract are largely intended to make it more clear about our role as the data processors of your Tapestry account, and how we can work together to be compliant with the GDPR.
If you haven’t already, we would ask that you read through the latest draft of the contract to see if you have any suggested changes or require clarification on any points before we release the final version. You can read a copy of this from the Control Panel in your Tapestry package or from this page here. We are planning on releasing the final version very soon, and you will be asked to agree to the new contract at that time.
New Features
Over the last months we have been able to release some great new features to Tapestry. You can find out more information about all of them below.
Relative Activity Screen
We know this is a feature many Tapestry users have requested so we are delighted that we can now offer you a screen from which you are able to track the activity of relatives on your account. The feature shows you how many observations they have made, when they were last active and other helpful information.
You can find out how to access and use this screen from our tutorial here. Please note by default only managers will be able to see this screen but the tutorial explains how it can be enabled so staff can see it as well.
Staff Observation Count Screen
This tracking screen will show you in one of two formats how many observations each member of staff has made in total and for each child on your account. You can see this information for a specific assessment period, a full history or you can set your own custom period to view. Like the Relative Activity screen, only managers can see this screen by default, but it can be enabled for staff by following our tutorial.
Introductory Set Up screens for new accounts
For those intending to add additional Tapestry accounts, there is a new help function that assists with the initial set up on Tapestry. From these you will be able to input information for the account such as: manager details, your setting’s time zone, your term dates and which assessment frameworks you want to use on the account. This will help ensure your package is set up in the way that is best for your setting. This tutorial will walk you through the whole process of setting up a Tapestry account.
Modify autocomplete options on the Care Diary
When you are entering information into certain fields within the Care Diary, for example a meal entry, Tapestry remembers the text you have entered as an autocomplete option. This is so that if you need to enter this information again, Tapestry will remember it and this will save you having to type out the text again. We have now added the ability to modify or delete the remembered info, so if you want to amend something slightly, you can! You can find out how to use this feature in our ‘Setting up Care Diary’ tutorial.
Tapestry and EasyPeasy
We’ve recently been speaking with the team at EasyPeasy, who offer an educational play app, about how settings can use Tapestry and EasyPeasy together to strengthen the link between your classroom and families at home. We’ve just opened a new forum area (click here) to share some guidance and tips and so you can talk to us and each other about how you're getting on, so please do take a look if you're an EasyPeasy user!
New Tapestry Webinars
As our webinars continue to be popular, we have recently added some more to our list of upcoming ones; these cover a range of topics such as using the Care Diary and what to do at the end of the academic year.
All of our webinars remain free to attend and you can find a list of all our upcoming ones on our Webinars page on the forum. You can sign up to them from there or by emailing us at customer.service@eyfs.info. As well as this, you can also find recordings of previous webinars from this page.
