  1. Employment and English & Maths

Okay so to simplify this discussion thread: If a staff member has a level 3 Early Education qualification (started after September 2014) then they must have GCSE maths and english at a C or above to count in ratio at level 3. If they do not then they can count in ratio either as unqualified (or level 2 if they held that level before moving on to do the level 3). Anyone with a level 3 qualification prior to the new qualification does not need GCSEs and there is no change to how they are treated in the ratio. I hope this helps
  2. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/early-years-inspection-handbook-from-september-2015 Hi MarshaD. Have you looked in the inspection handbook? Page 10-11 lists items the Inspector will be looking for.
  3. Display

I hope this link works but I always think of this blog when looking at displays http://www.abcdoes.com/abc-does-a-blog/2012/01/good-eyfs-display-try-a-scrapbook-approach/
  4. Learning Styles

Perhaps you could add it to the next steps plan for each child to show you will take this into consideration when planning activities/enhancements?
  5. New Sen Code of Practice 2014

In our area IEP's are now called Setting Based Support Plans or SBSP
  6. Guidance on infection control spreadsheet

  7. http://www.tts-group.co.uk/_rmvirtual/media/tts/images/AR01324_large.jpg I hope that this link works but here is an example of foldaway cardboard presentation boards. I have used them and they lasted well plus if you stand them on the floor they are child height and can be used to divide areas.
  8. Two year olds

'I am two! - working effectively with two year olds and their families' by Kay Mathieson is a good read. It's well set out and easy to absorb with case studies reflecting on practice.
  9. I don't know if this link will work but the parent's guide to the EYFS is available to download on the foundation years website. http://www.foundationyears.org.uk/eyfs-statutory-framework/
  10. Sue J is correct. Information can be found on the website below or by ringing the Information Commissioner on 01625545745 http://ico.org.uk/for_organisations/data_protection
  11. End of pre-school report

We have to complete one for all children going to school under LEA guidelines.
  12. Question about 3 and 4 year old funding

It continues until they leave to go to primary school or the end of the term in which they turn 5.
  13. staff terminal illness :-(

I have nothing extra to add to what has already been said but wanted to send my regards. My dear friend and deputy passed away last summer from a 2nd run in with cancer but it was so quick that no-one was prepared. Also it was right at the start of the summer holidays so all we could do was send a letter to the parents. We had kept all the parents up to date with her treatment progress but it was still shocking to everyone. Our early years improvement officer provided us with a bereavement box (books for children) but to be honest none of us could read them as we got too upset.
  14. First aid for bumps

I only just updated training as well and was told cold compress!
  15. Computer games supplier for 2-5 year olds recommendations

We use Gigglebies as well. They have a great offer at the moment £70 for all 6 games. Our children love them.
