As part of our registration forms we ask for permission to put their child's photo on our facebook site as well as our website and other marketing materials. Parents can select yes or no by ticking a box then signing the form at the end.
Is this adequate enough?

Hi All
Does anyone offer home visits from a 2-5 full day care setting. We are opening a new setting in April and wanted to introduce home visits i was wondering if anyone offered this?
-
Hi Upsy Daisy
Mom is very aware of his behaviour at the setting and has assured us there is nothing going on.
Its incredibly hard for her, our staff room is right next to the room he is in and you can hear him through the wall.

Hi everyone
I need some advice, one of our 2 year olds has developed an unhealthy obsession with his key worker. He screams her name when she leaves the room, wont allow anyone else to change his nappy without kicking, hitting or fighting his way off the changing table. Can get quite spiteful in the afternoon towards another children that approach her. He refers to her as 'My ***'
He has been coming to us and had the same key worker for the past year and nothing within the setting has changed.
I have never had this to this extent within a setting and i have worked in childcare for the past 14 years.
Any help will be welcomed

That the observations were very descriptive...
I have read them myself and feel that staff are struggling in when to do an observation and seem to be doing them for doing them's sake!
We ask staff to name 1 focus child from each key group each week and add them to our planning sheet, then staff are asked to carry out a minimum of 1 ob on that child within that week.

Just want to say thankyou for the Highscope Link....the video's really show good interections with children which is so lacking now with new staff coming through college.

I need some help please.....
We have recently been inspected by Ofsted and came out with an ok result our issue was with our staff and their Learning Journeys. Our staff are having issues with the quality of their Observations, including when to write one, what to write and when to stop. Sometimes i feel like i have cracked it and that staff are doing well other times it feels like we are back to stage one. I have been a practitioner for 15 years and now feel like i am stuck. We have a staff training day scheduled for 7th May and i was hoping to do some inhouse training with the staff and was wondering if anyone had any advice, suggestions or had even carried out training in the past? I want to make the day a fun filled day where staff are interested and want to learn.
Thank you x

On your registration form if dad is listed as having parental responsibility then there is no way you can stop dad from collecting. If it a safeguarding issue then this is different but that order should come from the LSB. We have this happen at our nursery a lot, we explain to parents that this is not possible however we can call mom and let her know that dad has come to nursery x

Thank you that helps lots x

Me again!!!
Was wondering what your views are n giving teething gel within a Day Nursery setting. Our Medication Policy states we can only administer Prescribed medication including Calpol. We can however apply nappy creams with just written consent from a parent/carer. I feel it would be fine to give teething gel and powders that are over the counter but would like your views.....if possible copies of Medication Policies would be good!
Thanks Guys x

Thanks everyone for replies x Very helpful!

Thanks I had seen this poster somewhere on my travels but was still told that it is best to have a consent form from parents. I think it is fine to put one on myself.....a little plaster makes it all better! We ask for any allergies when a child is registered with us so we would be aware of this kind of allergy. Thanks x

Hi I was wondering if anyone had a copy of their plaster consent form. I am acting manager of a day nursery and would like some guidance on this matter.
Thanks appreciate the help!

Hi
I have another question....
When we take a general phone enquiry we used to log down parents details as well as an email or phone number. How will this work? Can a verbal request for the information count as permission for us to hold the data?
