Guest Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 Hi Just would really appreciate any poetry you might use relating to trains, train journeys. Many thanks Becky x
Guest Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 How about 'Down by the station, early in the morning...' Down at the station, early in the morning See the little Puffer trains all in a row Here comes the driver to start up the engine PUFF PUFF, PEEP PEEP off we go! PUFF PUFF, PEEP PEEP off we go! PUFF PUFF, PEEP PEEP off we go! Down at the station, early in the morning See the little puffer trains all in a row Here comes the driver to start up the engine CHUFF CHUFF TOOT TOOT, off we go! CHUFF CHUFF TOOT TOOT, off we go! CHUFF CHUFF TOOT TOOT, off we go! Down at the station, early in the morning See the little Puffer trains all in a row Here comes the driver to start up the engine CLICKETY CLACK, CLICKETY CLACK off we go! CLICKETY CLACK, CLICKETY CLACK off we go! CLICKETY CLACK, CLICKETY CLACK off we go! Another one: Clickety clack, clickety clack Clickety clack, clickety clack Over the hill, the train's on the track. Chuffing and Puffing it goes along Making its very own train song! Puffety puff, chuffety chuff The train makes a cloud of white stuff Puffing and chuffing it leaves a trail As it grinds up the hill as slow as a snail. Mine also like this: Chitter chatter, chitter chatter, chitter chatter chack, we're going to the station, we're going down the track and here comes.... to join up at the back! To do this one you get one child to be the engine driver, and go round inside the circle moving their arms like trains wheels on a track, then you sing song and the child at front says someone's name and that child goes behind the first child putting their hands on their hips. Continue with that child choosing next child and so on until all are joined on. This is a good one for learning names too at the beginning of the year.

Marion Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 The train goes running along the line, Jicketty -can, Jicketty -can. I wish it were mine, I wish it were mine, Jicketty -can, Jicketty -can. The engine driver stands in front --- He makes it run, he makes it shunt; Out of the town, Out of the town, Over the hill, Over the down, Under the bridges, Across the lea, Over the bridges, And down to the sea, With a Jicketty -can, Jicketty -can, Jicketty -can, Jicketty -can, Jicketty -can, Jicketty -can…

Guest Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 Train Menu Reversed Coffee, coffee, coffee, coffee. Cheese and biscuits, Cheese and biscuits, Cheese and biscuits, Cheese and biscuits. Fruit and custard, Fruit and custard, Fruit and custard, Fruit and custard. Beef and carrots, Beef and carrots, Beef and carrots, Beef and carrots. Fish 'n chips, Fish 'n chips, Fish 'n chips, Fish 'n chips. Soooooooooooup! Start slowly, increase speed with each line, let "Soooooooup" be a high pitched imitation of a train whistle.
Inge Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 we call above the food train it can be added to by the children, we line children up single file and move arms like train while moving forward slowly and speeding up for each line until we stop, pull whistle and bend knees for soooouuup (mm lots of train crashes until they are used ot it) we also have jelly and cream as a line Inge
Posy Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 THE TRAIN IS CARRYING COAL The train is carrying coal It has 10 trucks behid At every station the train will stop And leave two trucks behind One child is engine, ten line up behind. Chldren chug round as rhyme is said and then two children leave train and re-join circle. You can have less trucks and discard singularly. Also: One little engine One little engine chugging down the track (child moves across circle) Two little engines came chugging back (child joins train) etc. etc Posy
