Guest Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 Help! I have to start teaching P.E. to a very boisterous reception class after Easter. Where do I start? Any suggestions? Leila
Sue R Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 Had to laugh at your title - could be me!! But, unfortunately, nothing of any help at all to offer. Sorry Sue
Beau Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 I'm sure everyone will be no end of help but to give you some food for thought I've trawled up a few old threads that might help. Nursery Pe. Pe in the Early Years. Pe. Music and Pe For Reception Inspiration Needed! I too loved the thread title.
Guest Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 When we first take our youngest children (N & R) to PE we do lots of activities whilst arranged in a circle - I find this formation is great as you have a clear view of everyone. We always start with lots of action rhymes. The non-slip markers (hand/feet/spot shapes) are really useful for helping children keep to their own space - we do lots of work on the spot to begin with and gradually begin to explore the space around our spot - travelling a little way and returning to it.
Guest Wolfie Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 Topstart do a nice collection of activity ideas, I'm not sure if you can get hold of the activity cards without having to also buy the equipment though...which is very expensive!
Guest Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 I think that to buy the Topstart programme you have to have prove you have received the training.
Guest Wolfie Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 No, I bought it without doing the training, I think it's in some of the catalogues?
Guest Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Val Sabin does a booklet for pre school children as well as older children. This is full of short, fun activities with aCD to go with it I use it with my roudy bunch!!!
