Guest Wolfie
In our authority, all the LEA nurseries are given a basline assessment to complete for each child on entry to nursery -which is then used again as the child moves up to reception to assess progress - but there is nothing standard that is used by all the VIP settings. I'm not at all keen on "ticklist" assessments - can kick a ball, knows colours, etc. - but want to try and develop some kind of assessment across the six areas of learning for children as they enter the Foundation Stage. I've got forms that ask parents for all kinds of information about what their child likes playing with, etc.etc but am looking for something to be used by the nursery staff within the nursery to assess developmental levels and progress during the first couple of weeks that a child is with them.
