Hi Ive been notified by a parent that their child has Scarlet fever, I left a message last week for someone from the Environmental Health dept to call me back as I understand this is a notifiable disease? They havent done so I will try again tomorrow

This is the first time I have had to deal with anything like this. has anyone experienced this if so can anyone give me some advise on what I should be doing?

Thanks

we had a couple of cases about a year ago, i like you tried to contact environmental health but got nowhere. In the end i put a notice up informing parents and letting them know what the symptoms are, we never had anymore cases after that.

You also have to inform Ofsted of any notifiable disease too.

NHS direct may be a point of reference either by phone or internet, to get info for parents should they ask.

I don't know much about the illness myself, how is the child, is he/she recovering ok?
