Marion Posted December 13, 2005 Share Posted December 13, 2005 Some of the statements in the profile relate to NC Levels 1-2 We use the Durham baseline scheme which can be used to directly complete the Foundation Stage Profile. The FSP levels are indicated at the end of the statement and you can see a child achieving 8s or 9s is working at NC levels. How do you do this at your school? We have been looking at it quite closely over the last couple of days and feel that quite a lot of profile B actually realtes to !c, particularly in 1c, is this incorrect? Guest Posted March 22, 2006 Share Posted March 22, 2006 The Standards Site says quite categorically that FSP scores can not be used to predict KS1 SATs, as they are different types of data (Q9). www.standards.dfes.gov.uk/primary/faqs/foundation_stage/1145599/#1145603 We used our data to look at peaks and troughs of progress and attainment at different points of the year. Where are the children on entry and why? (pre school provision etc) Why do we have/not have good progress/attainment in particular scales? How can we alter provision to address these troughs? etc etc Much more worthwhile and useful for the SEF as well. The Standards site has new info about looking at your data. Guest Posted April 11, 2006 Share Posted April 11, 2006 i forgot, using the on entry baseline the ch now have predicted levels for key stage 1, after doing a recent writing assessment these levels seem accurate. Guest Posted April 21, 2006 Share Posted April 21, 2006 Just a quick comment - in Essex we use Target Tracker for recording assessments. The FS Target Tracker can be transferred electronically to the Primary one and children scoring 9 points are targetted for a level 3 in Y2! You can imagine the dilemma in a school that pushes for more level 3s every year! If we are only getting one or two scoring 9 points then the targets for SATS are very low. What do we do about that?
