beth1 Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 Hi guys, I was looking at a job for a baby room leader and I am interested to find out what the baby room leader role is all about? I am not sure of the age grouping, it could be a 6 mths to 12-15 months or a 1 to 2 years room. It is a big nursery with appox 60 places for children. Could you tell me what the diffences are between each age groups, like planning for the age groups, toys, organising the rooms and staffing. If you can help me, I will then get a greater understanding of what a baby room leaders role is, previous baby room leaders I have worked under have not been very supportive and not given me a clear role to work towards, maybe that why I am not very good at this age group. Thanks in advance Beth
Guest Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 I would think your first step would be to apply and see what their job description details. Different settings have different ways of working. Your main requirements would be to follow the BTTM guidance and the national Standards in day care. Good luck peggy as a leader I think you would be expected to be a good role model to other staff, ability to supervise and lead other staff, very sound knowledge of child development for the age range, a working knowledge of all the main policies that are within every setting.
beth1 Posted October 27, 2006 Author Posted October 27, 2006 I am trying to find out all information possible for each room, I know what a room leader does in a 2-5's room but not with the under 2's. I am under the impression that a job I am going for is for the baby room leader postion. They have just asked me to attend interview without giving me a job description, so I am trying to get enough information together to enable me to do a good interview. Beth
