Guest Posted May 20, 2006 Posted May 20, 2006 As a result of recommendations from the Rose Review on the teaching of early reading, QCA is consulting on proposed changes to the key stage 1 English programme of study for reading and a foundation stage early learning goal. The consultation on the proposed changes runs from 8 May to 31 July 2006. QCA would welcome your views. To contribute to the consultation, please visit the QCA website at www.qca.org.uk/consultations/ and complete the online questionnaire before 31 July 2006.
Guest Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 Have just received the consultation document and only read to page 6-and already have some questions about it...Are FSU units going to need to plan with childminders and other local nurseries/children's centres in a 'cluster' meeting every half term?, are all profile statements only achievable if the child is doing them in self-initiated play scenarios? where does teacher-led activities fit in with the emphasis on observation? Also in our school we still do baseline testing and the new document states there will be no testing of children in the Foundation Stage-our head isn't keen to change this...questions,questions questions!!I've not read the rest yet but no doubt there will be many more...has anyone else found any other things to be aware of?
