Power Rangers

In Child Initiated time, all my Reception boys (12 out of a class of 20) seem to want to play is Power Rangers. They put various large pieces of outdoor equipment together to make bases, wear the dressing up clothes as capes, then in the writing area make maps, wristbands and hats. They are using their imagination but the play does get very lively and I am not sure that much learning is going on. Some days I say 'no Power Rangers today'. I would like to capitalize on this imagination and channel it in a different way. Any suggestions, please?

have you read 'We don't play with guns here'?

very good book... very apt... and changed the way I view superhero and weapon play in the early years... period! :)

We have a rule power rangers and guns are left outside the gate (not literally) if you know what I mean. The children just accept its something they do at home but not school
