Maths in Reception

Hi,

I am an nqt new to to Reception. I’m just interested to hear how you teach Maths in Reception. I’ve got two main questions:

1. How long do you spend on a specific topic e.g would you focus on recognising shapes for a whole week? 

 

2. How do you differentiate? Will you have different ability groups or do you extend pupils after completing the piece of work?
