Multiple age band statements for one observation

Hi, We have just started using Tapestry and have would like to be able to tick statements within more than one age band for a single observation, i.e. some within 30-50 months and some within 40-60+. We can't seem to find how to do this. As we are currently baselining the children, we don't know what the best fit is yet and need to show all the statements that fit the child's development. Hoping someone can help!

Hi Laurakarpouzi,

Thanks for your first post on the forum!

It's not possible to choose statements from two different age bands within the same aspect for the same observation.  For Tapestry analysis to make sense of your assessments you need to make a 'best fit' judgement. We recommend you select the age band and also a refinement (emerging, developing or secure) and then, if appropriate, tick a statement that may apply to that observation.

As I'm sure you are aware, the statements are not designed as a 'tick-list' where each child is expected to achieve them all, they are just examples of the kinds of behaviour and knowledge that children exhibit within those age bands. The author of the Development Matters Document, Nancy Stewart, actually wrote an article about this for us on the Forum, which you may be interested in reading!

To help you get to grips with assessing on Tapestry you might find this article helpful as well.

I hope this helps. :)

Best wishes,

Emily
