Guest
Just asking about this for a friend If you do the HLTA training should your rate of pay increase. It is just at her school the people with HLTA only get paid the higher rate when they lead PPA time and she is just wondering why she did all that work as she only leads one PPA session a week. Any ideas or advice please?
Guest tinkerbell
We have some one who has done the training but they do not get paid for having the qualification and we do not use her for PPA time. We are a small school and have said we would let the TAs go on the courses and support them through it but we have no positions in our school for them. Guest
My HLTA only gets the higher rate when she covers for me - a Monday morning every week which is my PPA & then other odd times like sickness or a course or if I have to go and do something in school. For the other times she is just on normal TA rate. Hope that helps, Judith
Guest
As an HLTA myself it should be understood that although you train it is not a qualification it is considered to be only a status and not part of professional development leading to a monetary gain unfortunately. Most TA's and HLTA get paid for the extra work for PPA cover or sick cover at a higher rate but most LEA's do not pay you on a higher level as an HLTA. Harsh but true.
