Restarting Tapestry Apps

Although we work tirelessly to make everything bright and shiny, sometimes apps and the internet can get in a bit of tizzy, and cause some unusual behaviour! It may be necessary to force-quit the Tapestry app and restart it in these situations to restore normality.

In this tutorial we will look at how you can force-quit the app for iOS (Apple) and Android/Amazon Fire devices.

We'll start with iOS. To skip to the section for Android devices, click here.

iOS

Apple devices have a nice straight-forward way of force-quitting. You just need to double click the home button below the screen, the one with the little square on it and then a list of running apps will appear. Once you see the Tapestry app, you just need to swipe upwards to close it.

Once the app has been force-quit you can then go back to the home screen and touch the Tapestry icon to start the Tapestry app again.

Android and Amazon Fire

Androids are just as simple as Apple devices devices to force-quit. Firstly, tap the window button below the screen, depending on the device this may differ between an actual button, or an on screen square (1).

A list of running apps will then appear. You can swipe up and down to scroll, until you come across Tapestry (2). Once you find the screenshot of the Tapestry app, swipe left or right and off the screen so that it disappears (3).

Android 9 and higher

The process is a little bit different on the most recent version of Android, which is 9.

You will still need to select the square icon in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen (1).  This will then bring up all your open apps. You can scroll to the right to find Tapestry (2) and once you do, you just need to swipe up to close it (3).

Once the app has been force-quit you can then go back to the home screen and touch the Tapestry icon to start the Tapestry app again.

Please note, on versions of Android 10 and higher, to bring up all your open apps you just need to swipe upwards on your device.
