Guest Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 Hi I heard a rumour and cant find where to find out if it is true. I heard that School Nurseries no longer Require Nursery Nurses even in a 26 place Teacher led Nursery. Although I haven't been on here for a while, the knowledge of you all has helped me in the past. Thanks Phil Quote
catma Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 They have to have a level 3 or above plus a qualified teacher for 26 children. All still the ratios as defined in the statutory framework still in place! Cx Quote
Guest Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 A teacher is required if the school is running a nursery but if the school is running a preschool then a level 3 leader is required. With the way funding is going schools may suddenly close their nurseries and open preschools instead? My wages are lower than a teaching assistant which for me is unfair considering what I do. Trying to get it recognised is tough. Quote
catma Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 maintained schools cannot close a nursery class - the LA has to propose it and consult. They have a duty to ensure enough childcare sufficiency and with 30 hrs looming i doubt they would1 cx 1 Quote
