FSFRebecca
June O Sullivan is managing director of London Early Years Foundation she has written eloquently about the challenges facing providers based in London. Many of the issues she raises are felt by providers nationwide and discussed on the FSF every week. The Margaret Horn Debate takes place annually and details for attending are included at the bottom of June's article. BroadOaks
Didn't want to read and leave.. so I will leave a comment to hopefully start some debate. I don't particularly have much interest in this London Childcare Challenge, mainly due to me not living anywhere near London. I will say that i did start the read the article until this point below: new London Mayor, Sadiq Khan who seems much more in touch with what needs to happen to support Londoners live well and work successfully I then realised that the person writing this June O'Sullivan must be a Labour Supporter and although this shouldn't sway my judgement on this article, it did. Boris Johnson did a lot for childcare in London and actually he also visited many settings just like Sadiq Khan has begun to do.. so to say he is already doing much more, is already not accurate. Actually regarding the London Childcare Challenge.. we have the same problems all over the Country! Although taking a look at her credentials https://www.leyf.org.uk/blog/about/ She seems to do a lot for the sector.. and is involved in many organisations.. so good luck to her in this challenge ::1a Edited November 10, 2016 by BroadOaks
BroadOaks
On reflection and reading this thread once again, I might have been a bit harsh. I am sure June O'Sullivan is amazing and her work is a huge benefit to our sector. I am not against leaning to the left at all.. and I also do not like the current government and I sit somewhere in the middle. I can understand both sides and also maybe how some sway very far to the right even!! Although yes this article is about London, and the problems they face, it does translate into the same problems all over the Country. So keep up the good work June O'Sullivan ::1a
