Guest Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 Life has been very difficult in our setting of late with resignations and now we have a member of staff who has gone of sick and we have no idea when she will be returning (over 6 weeks now), and it is putting so much pressure on the existing staff, they now have so many key work children each that they just can't cope (we had to re-allocate the sick staff members children) and as a result, another person has resigned. Any ideas how we can get a temporary member of staff in to cover sickness at short notice, who can take on key children. The last job we advertised hardly anyone applied and no-one qualified or with any experience who could take on key children. Not sure where to go from here . Quote
thumperrabbit Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 Do you have any relationship with other local groups that might have spare staff? - never worked for me but it might for you! Do you know of a childminder? sometimes if they drop off at pre-school they have a few hours 'free' so to speak - this worked for us once many moons ago. It's issues like this that made me know it's time to move on ... Quote
rappers Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Are any of your current or previous parents early years qualified and looking for some work? Are you using Tapestry to reduce paperwork for the keypersons? Have you advertised your vacancy in the job section of the forum? We've also had poor responses to job adverts and there seems fewer early years students at our local colleges too! I hope something turns up for you. Quote

They are, but not looking for work at the moment unfortunately. We absolutely have to employ a qualified person this time and only one person has applied and they have no experience :-( . Banging our heads against a brick wall here Quote
Guest Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Agency staff?? I've looked into agencies, but they will only do a minimum of 3 months contract. Quote
