Guest
Hi, does anyone have an application form that they use for volunteers that they are willing to share? Thanks
FSFRebecca
I would use the same application form as I would for any member of staff. I still want all my volunteers to tell me all about themselves and, from a safeguarding point of view, I would still want to know their employment history etc. The fact that they are voluntary only means I am not including them in my ratios - I still need to know all about them.
Guest
Thanks, fair point. My understanding though was that a volunteer could count in ratios provided they are DBS checked?
FSFRebecca
Yes, you can use volunteers in the ratio (Statutory Framework safeguarding and welfare requirements para 3.29), however, at my nursery we choose not to (which is what I meant when I said "I am not using them in my ratios"). Hope that helps

Yes, this is what we do now. As you say from a safeguarding view point you still need the same background history.
