I manage a day nursery and am looking to see how other nurseries cover the nursery day staffing wise. We are open 8-6. What hours do your staff work - shift patterns etc?

Do you have a chef or cleaner and what hours do they work?

Also what hours and jobs do your apprentices do?

Thanks

Hi,

we are open 8-6, staff work 8-5, 8:30-5:30 or 9-6 with 1 hour for lunch. apprentices do the same but may leave early for time at college etc. we have a cook who works 9-1 and the staff do all of the cleaning but we have a cleaner who comes in every fortnight to give a good going over, they come at the weekend when we are closed and do about 3 hours.

We are open 7.30am to 6.00pm. Full time staff work 3 full days either 7.30-5.30 or 8-6 with 45 minute break, 1 day 11.30-6.15 with half hour break, 1 day 7.30-1.30 and no break. Means they can book doctor/dentist etc on half days! Part time staff usually work fixed hours/days with corresponding breaks. Our cook works 7.30-1.30 as we do breakfast as well as lunch, and we have contract cleaners who come in after hours/at weekend. No apprentices at the moment, but hours would depend on their age and if they are older they would do similar hours to full time staff with time off/out for course work/college.
