dawn_hutchins
HI, I'm a Childminder and have just started using Tapestry. I was wondering what other Childminders send / print to there minded families at the end of each term? I have sent a copy of each child's Summative Assessments, is that enough? Should I also send them copies of their childs "next steps"...anything else? Any tips or advice would be very welcome. T.I.A :-)
HoneyPancakes
I don't send next steps, or next observations, to parents. For me they guide my practice - notes on where to go next or look out for. Just the observations as a regular, 'this is what we've been doing, or this is the fab new achievement. But I do let them see my assessments which is a bit scary but no one;s even commented on them to-date. I really like the 2-y-o report on Tapestry - Mrs O did too. Frankly, I'm only doing summative assessments when children move on to other settings - and I didn't even do that for my last one (oops!). Don't take what I do as the only way to do things. I just make things up as I go along but it works for me. Enjoy. H
