I have had somebody apply for a job who was schooled in Sri Lanka and I am a bit confused over their qualifications.

She says she took GCSE's in 1992 and achieved the following: English C (Credit pass) and Maths D (Distinction pass). Is there anyway of finding out if these are equivalent to our GCSE's to meet the criteria laid down?

You can also get a formal statement from NARIC to compare overseas qualifications but this costs. I would expect someone coming from overseas to have done this so that they can apply for jobs, I had New Zealand qualifications and needed to get a NARIC statement in order to get a job here in a school.

I think it cost about £40 and was done online.
