Skittles
Does anyone know if it is still acceptable to promote the eligibility requirements for those who would have previously been FSM? Obviously all Rec children are entitled to FSM, However is it up to the school itself to ask those who fit the previous criteria to let the school know?? Tad flummoxed! jocrow
In the welcome packs we sent out before the summer holidays had a information letter provided by the City Council with regards who would be entitled to pupil premium money and how to apply. Guest
This has caused huge confusion at my school - parents not applying for PPF as everyone has free meals now so we have just done a big publicity campaign, including helping to fill forms in if parents would like us to - it just has too big an impact on the budget to be left to chance. other school locally have done similar things, including offering prize draws for parents who have put an application in, We have found that talking about pupil premium and not making any reference at all to free school meals has helped to begin to keep things simple. Good luck!

Yes we have sent out letters and reminders on newsletters about the criteria for pupil premium. As marywilliam said the impact on the budget is so great, if we don't get these parents to sign up it's going to have a huge impact.
catma
There is still a distinction between those families eligible for FSM because of their benefit status and all children being provided with a meal at no charge to the family. Schools have to pay for the costs of the FSM eligible children - funding only covers the non FSM children's meals. Therefore schools must be ensuring that FSM eligible families register as this will impact on school's funding. And on the data set held about the school and the community it serves. There will also be a census day for the take up of FSM overall and this will link to the funding the school gets to pay for the non FSM eligible meals they provide, so it will be important that there is a good take up of FSMs on that day! Cx Oh help! Will this be the same as the PLASC day - in which case it has gone and nothing can be done - or is it still to come -do you have any idea Catma? We worked really hard with our parents during Parents Evening just before half-term and I hope we have found some who are eligible for the PPF assistance, but that won't be confirmed for a couple of weeks!
