Lorna
How about making a simple shadow puppet box, using a large cardboard box and grese proof paper, the children could use their hands or card to make simple puppets and tell stories. If you have an overhead projector, try using toys on it to create shadows or cellophane, what happens- different ways of exploring light. what happens if they put coloured cellophane over the ends of the torch? I have done this before with reception and they have enjoyed it. Hope this helps L
basilbrush
there is a lovely story about day and night called 'Night Monkey, Day Monkey', which is really good to introduce ideas, not really about light sources, but could possibly link in somewhere
