Guest Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 I had a job interview followed by lesson observation in Reception last Friday. The headteacher phoned me in the evening the same day. He said that they hadn't made their decision yet as they needed to wait for references. It's half term break so I need to wait another week. Does it mean I have a chance to get this job? I wasn't told 'We will offer you the job pending references'. I am a bit confused.
Susan Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 You will need to hand your notice in by 31 May unless you are currently on a fixed term contract that ends in August. Im not surprised you are confused! Can you contact your own HT?
Guest Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 I am on permanent contract but doing part-time PPA cover. Does it matter?
Susan Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 As you are on a permanent contract you will need to have handed in your notice by 31May to enable you to start a new job in September. Your HT could otherwise insist that you work until December 31st. A resignation between 31 May to 31 August to start a new job 1 September, would be at the discretion of your HT and the Governors.
Guest Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 I just wonder whether they consider only me or maybe other candidates. ??? I don't know the procedure.
