managers and ratio

Hi all

 

another quick question. I am about to shake things up a bit at work, part of this process will be to provide more opportunities to observe staff and 'coach' them in session times. Now I feel that this might be very challenging if I am counted in ratio. I wondered how others go about it and if in other settings managers are out of ratio in order to get some of these jobs 'done' ?

 

Also who do you as managers ask to observe you and your practice??

I think you are right and this can be tricky if you are in ratio. When I was in ratio we started using video as I could take a 2/3 minute video whilst still keeping an eye on the rest of the room and could then watch the video together with the staff member and reflect when it was more convienient. I also use the videos during training sessions to show good practice, this has been so successful that we still use video even though I am now not in ratio
