Guest
I have recently, 2 weeks ago, been on an Enco course, and now have to put together an Equality working group. Its very much like going into the wild unprepared, so am wondering if anyone else has done this and can offer any advice. What do I write in the letter to invite people along, what do we discuss, how often do they need to be carried out? Sorry, I have so many questions as it is all new territory for me! lynned55
Ooh dear sorry, no words of advice- just didn't want to read and run. I'm sure some wise soul will be along to help soon
Guest
Hi, I am also the Enco for my setting, but they didn't even know what that was when I asked about it!!! I did the two day training at a previous job. Anyway, I am very interested in the idea of an Equality working group, but have absolutely no idea what that might entail. Will follow this thread with interest.
Guest
Apparently any setting in receipt of government money, ie funding, has a legislative duty to comply with specific equality requirements. One being this working group

Hoolahoney
I am not the ENCO but am part of the EWG, I minute the meeting. We invited parents, our SEN lady, our finance lady, a local health visitor and anyone else who was interested to join. Think there is 7 of us in total. We go through the Single Equality Scheme (SES) and the setting audit. We discuss any actions arising and compile evidence to show how we are trying to meet actions from the SES photo's etc. We go through the meetings minutes from the last meeting and discuss any matters arising and then discuss any equality related incidents to see if we can help them not occur in the future. It sounds like a lot but is only a half hour/hour meeting. Hope that helps! :1b
