what does it mean?

Hi, still having problems with exactly what the objective 'begins to break the flow of speech into words' means. Can anyone help please???

do you think it means they sound out each word as they read along with you or mark make ....eg I am going to buy some sweets ?

it means saying the words aloud as they write, which they will have seen us modelling. it may be that they write letters/letter-like shapes/wiggles etc or use sounds appropriately x

Oral speech is continuous sound. In order to write, the child has to hear the individual word units and understand that each unit is a whole and separate "thing".

does it mean that each squiggle represents a word ..and they say each word as they squiggle ?
