garrison Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 I need help re-doing our mobile phone policy We have no issues with nursery but we also operate 4 after school clubs, 2 breakfast clubs and a holiday club in different settings, all of which have a mobile phone as a point of contact for parents. This means several issues arise staff need to have the phones on them whilst in club to accept any bookings/cancellations/queries these phones also need to be taken home for the above reason. We know we need to have a policy regarding phones but nowhere in the EYFS does it tell you what the policy should be please help!!!
Guest Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Can they have phones that don't have cameras on them? We are in a similar predicament and this was the advice from our L.A. Not sure what will happen when the 'old' phone cease to exist!
hopeytg Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 We have the same problem and also use phones that do not have cameras.
Guest SamG Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 I'm just in the process of setting up a preschool with a friend and we have bought pay-as-you-go mobile phones without cameras so that parents can get in touch with us before we open and if we are outside. Our mobile phone policy will refer to personal mobile phones, but not the setting mobiles. Hope this helps
Guest Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 We are the same as SamG - our mobile phone policy will reflect members of staff phones and not nursery mobile which does not have a camera.
Guest Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 the mobile phone policy section of this document from http://www.plymouth.gov.uk/early_years_toolkit.pdf has a recommendation section on 'setting mobile phones' which might help you
