sharonash
We are pulling our hair out- we've all lost the plot and on Summer term overload- and everyone knows how that feels dont you! Our routine seems like organised chaos can anyone share there as we seem to have lost sight of what we are doing! thanks
garrison
As long as the chaos is organised, why worry!!! Our main nursery sessions operate as follows 9am - admission and free play until 11.30 (rolling snack operates from 9-9.45) This involves indoor and outdoor play 11.30 - Group time 11.45 Lunch and independent reading til afternoon session starts 12.30 Admission and free play until 2.15 2.15 Tidy up 2.25 group snack 2.40 Group time 3.00 home time In the Summer term we add in 'school club' where we start preparing them for school activities We find this all works well as the children have loads of time to become engrossed in their play

sharonash
We seem to stop and start too much I think, do you not have story or singing time or is that in your group time. When do you do activities to cover childrens next steps? thanks for your replies
lynned55
Stories would go on throughout the morning - there is usually an adult in the book corner reading to 1 or a few children- songs etc would be during our group time- also after tidying up the children- sit down as a group for a few minutes before going into lunch (length of time depends on how long they have taken to tidy up) we would then read any WOWs, maybe sing a song etc. Any focused activities would be done for those that wish to do it during the free play. Staff will cover any next steps with the children whilst they are playing. We rarely stop the session for organised stuff- I suppose for someone walking in, it may look like absolute chaos however we know what we are doing and are in control (well sometimes!!)
