fimbo Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 has anyone had any experience of a mixed reception and preschool class - with preschool children from 2:6 (possibly 2 ?) all in one classroom, sharing resources etc. what are the pros and cons , how does it work , is it managable, how many staff do you have -what are their 'roles'. i have no experience of this, and have never heard of any setting doing it -so any information would be very gratefully received x
thumperrabbit Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 As a pre-school with 2, 3 and 4 year olds the only thing I would say is it can be very tough, 2 year olds are very much on their own agenda so routines take a long time to establish! Â I've not heard of anyone doing it yet.... BUT I have heard of some of our schools talking about taking the 2 year olds in their nursery classes now funding is beginning to kick in, (although we are an affluent area so can't see how the school would qualify for it) Â just another nail in a pre-school coffin.
