fimbo Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 has anyone had any experience of a mixed reception and preschool class - with preschool children from 2:6 (possibly 2 ?) all in one classroom, sharing resources etc. what are the pros and cons , how does it work , is it managable, how many staff do you have -what are their 'roles'. i have no experience of this, and have never heard of any setting doing it -so any information would be very gratefully received x
thumperrabbit Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 As a pre-school with 2, 3 and 4 year olds the only thing I would say is it can be very tough, 2 year olds are very much on their own agenda so routines take a long time to establish! I've not heard of anyone doing it yet.... BUT I have heard of some of our schools talking about taking the 2 year olds in their nursery classes now funding is beginning to kick in, (although we are an affluent area so can't see how the school would qualify for it) just another nail in a pre-school coffin.
