Becky2
Hi.... General question about applying for a new job when already teaching.....is it not incredibly awkward if you apply, so Head knows, and then you don't get it? Doesn't that cause an atmosphere afterwards? Thanks
Froglet
Depends on the head! Also on why you want to go/where you want to go to. My head has actually been very supportive about me applying for jobs which will help me to move on in ways which aren't possible in my school. Susan
Heads do know that you need to move on, they will have done so. Its not very good form to stay in one school for ever, either and there can be an optimum time for moving. Some heads do get a bit shirty when they realise they might lose staff but maybe if you work for one of those you need to move sooner rather than later anyway! Whatever you do, do tell your head that you are thinking of applying before you actually do so and ask for their support as a referee, its good form and will save a lot of unpleasantness, if you dont! Good luck in your search.
